EET Names Ruth Herbert as Managing Director of Business Development and Strategic Initiatives

Essar Energy Transition (EET) has announced the appointment of Ruth Herbert as Managing Director of Business Development and Strategic Initiatives, starting on September 16.

Ruth Herbert, who most recently held the position of Chief Executive at the Carbon Capture and Storage Association, brings a wealth of expertise to EET. In her new role, she will be responsible for steering the company’s strategic initiatives, driving business growth, identifying new opportunities, and forming key partnerships to align with the evolving energy sector.

With over 15 years of experience in the energy industry, Ruth has made significant contributions to policy development and industry advancements. At the Carbon Capture and Storage Association, she played a key role in shaping government policies and building partnerships that accelerated progress in the sector.

Ruth’s career includes extensive experience within the UK Government, where she held key roles at the Department of Energy and Climate Change. She was instrumental in leading negotiations on the EU Directive for CO2 Storage and played a vital role in the UK’s Electricity Market Reform, focusing on policy coordination, stakeholder engagement, and international carbon capture and storage (CCUS) initiatives. Ruth has also served on the UK government’s CCUS Council, its Industrial Decarbonisation Challenge Advisory Council, and the UKCCSRC Advisory Council.

Previously, Ruth held the position of Director of Strategy and Development at the Low Carbon Contracts Company, where she was responsible for shaping the organization’s strategic direction, managing government relations, and overseeing external communications.
